Pray for my family and I. I am mowing the yard today. After reading these statistics, I am not sure I will make it out alive.
“Although smaller in size than most farm equipment the potential for injury is still present. The moving blades and operating engine make lawn mowers dangerous items if not used cautiously and with respect. Objects thrown from a mower discharge chute can travel at 200 miles per hour. In 1997, data from the U.S. Consumer Product Commission showed that over 60,000 operators and bystanders required emergency room treatment for mower-related injuries. Annually, approximately 75 fatalities and 20,000 injuries were caused by riding mowers alone. Statistics also show that one out of every five deaths involve children.”

Josh,
When I was younger than you, cutting the yard was accompolished with a reel type PUSH mower. since it does not have a high RPM any objects are thrown softly, since the blade does not turn when pulled backwards and nothing moves if you do not push it forward. It is ultra safe; since Aiden helps you I suggest you retire the power mower and acquire a reel type push mower. An added benefit if you cut your yard twice weekly with it you will not need an exercise program to get and stay in shape.
